Lip Plumper Ingredients and Why You Should Care

With the market flooded with lip plumpers, it is important to understand the ingredients in lip plumpers. Each individual ingredient is there for a specific reason. Not to mention that you may very well be allergic to it.

I’ve created a list of lip plumping ingredients that can be found in products today:

1) Peptides - Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline and palmitoyl oligopeptide (peptides) enhance collagen and hyaluronic acid production. This ingredient increases lip tissue volume and thus provides a more plump effect. These ingredients stimulate the production of collagen in the lips and also cause the synthesis of hyaluronic acid.

2) Ceramide and Candelilla Wax locks in moisture.

3) Retinols, including retinaldehyde, can improve fine lines and texture (over time) through collagen synthesis. There has been scientific research that can back up these claims.

4) A Vitamin B derivative is known to increase circulation to the lip region, thus causing the illusion of a plumper lip.

5) Menthol, paired with l-arginine, , while l-arginine stimulates the blood flow and circulation of the lip region.

6) Ginger Root Extract, Cinnamon Leaf Oil, and Peppermint Oil all irritate the lips, resulting in short-term swelling and irritation of the mucosa of the lips. Even though this can cause temporary plump lips, it can also cause peeling or dry lips.

7) Niacin causes tingling and flushing through dilation of capillaries in the skin, for some slight redness and swelling, though many patients can’t tolerate this ingredient, either topically or orally.

8) Topical or Marine Collagen, both known to be an active ingredient in lip plumpers, do not penetrate the skin or enhances collagen content in the lips.

It is important to always check the lip plumper ingredients before purchasing. You do not want to get an allergic reaction to the lips.

Three Easy Tips To Plumper Lips

glossy lips

There are non-surgical options that can make your lips appear naturally fuller without the use of needles and scalpels. There’s no doubt in my mind that we want the cheapest solution with the best results for fuller lips. I’ve created a list of lip plumping tips that are often overlooked.

Here are three lip plumping tips:

Lip Plumping Tip #1: Any lip plumper with harsh or dry ingredients can cause discomfort.

These items include:

* ginger
* cinnamon
* black pepper
* cayenne pepper
* and other more spicy items

From my own previous experience, these spices help attain temporary fullness that leaves you with extremely dry-lips. Maintaining hydrating skin is key to plump lips up whilst drying those pucker of yours literally defeats the purpose.

Lip Plumping Tip #2: Drink plenty of water to keep skin moist -  again hydration is key to everything. This keeps your body to be internally hydrated.

Have you ever noticed that when you are desperately thirsty, your lips tend to dry up and shrivel. This is an after affect of dehydration.

Lip Plumping Tip #3: When applying your lip plumper remember to open your mouth wide as you can. This technique allows the ingredients (such as the plumping-agents) to get deep into the cracks and crevices. As a result, it fills out the tissues to its most potential resulting you with fuller-lips.

Again, I like to do this trick at night when I apply generous layers of the plumping-conditioner. I do this because when I wake up the next day, it actually gets bigger and smoother.

Hope these lip plumping tips come in handy. Let me know how it works for you!
